JACK SHANAHAN
Harman
Kaler
Piano, Bass, and Guitar Instructor
Harman started taking guitar lessons when he was 11 years old in Goldsboro, North Carolina. His first guitar was a hand-me-down Hohner classical guitar, and he still enjoys playing that guitar today. Harman studied music at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he was inspired to teach by his favorite professors. While enrolled at Catawba College, he expanded his knowledge of music theory and began to perform in student and local bands.
When the Covid-19 pandemic began during his sophomore year of college, Harman started learning about music production at home and compiling his own catalog of recorded works. Since graduating in 2022, Harman has continued to study music theory, production, and
business and enthusiastically passes on his knowledge to his students.
His favorite genres are jazz, folk, and indie-rock.
